Object Description

Diese Xirimía stammt aus Panajachel am Lago Atitlan im Südwesten Guatemalas. Das Mundstück dieses Doppelrohrblattinstruments ist aus Plastiklamellen gefertigt. Das Exemplar hat sechs frontale Tonlöcher sowie ein frontales und zwei seitliche Resonanzlöcher, aber kein Daumenloch. Die Xirimía gilt als charakteristisch für Folklore und wird in Guatemala, Mexiko und Kolumbien gespielt, meist im Ensemble, begleitet von Trommeln auf öffentlichen Prozessionen.
