Objektbeschreibung
Until
the late 19th-century, the emergence of a work of sculpture always required
steps undertaken by several different actors. After an initial sketch by the
master it was usually executed in clay and captured in plaster, at first a
small format and then an original sized working model was completed which was
then used by the workshop’s stonecutters to transfer to the stone. The sculptor
himself then added final details by hand. Rauch’s small format Danaid was part
of the first phase. | Yvette Deseyve
